We started a new strength and conditioning program geared toward athletes currently in grades 5th-8th. We hold two sessions every Monday and Wednesday night in the Meridian High School weight room. The first session runs from 6:00-7:00pm and is for MYF athletes currently in 5th & 6th grade. This session is geared towards athletes in this age category and focuses mainly on improving speed, agility and quickness along with body-weight training (i.e. push-ups). No weights are used in this session. The second session runs immediately afterward, from 7:00-8:00pm, and is for MYF athletes currently in 7th & 8th grade. During the second session, we also focus on speed, agility and quickness and begin incorporating weight-lifting but the primary focus is on appropriate technique at this age. Occasionally, you will find members from the High School Varsity Football team joining us to teach technique and to encourage our young athletes along. The fee is $25 per athlete and covers the cost of the Meridian Muscle t-shirt they will receive upon completion of 2 sessions. Our current plan is to run this program through the summer depending on the level of participation that is sustained. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Parents of MYF Players -
This year we are not fortunate enough to have a "photographer" on our MYF staff. In place of that past luxury, we are trying something new for 2014. We have purchased an inexpensive web hosting service to collect and share photos with all parents. Please use the links below to access the photo archive to upload your photos from game day and view/download pictures that others have taken. So please, give service a try and upload your photos to share with other players and parents or go to the site to view and download pictures posted by other parents. We are also interested in your feedback at the end of the season to see if this is something we should continue or try something new. Thanks and let us know if you have any questions.
